Exploring the Unseen: Our Complete Orpington House Transformation

Updated: Nov 14

The Vision

Here is a glimpse into the huge renovation process of this house in Orpington, which included 26 casement windows, 1 front door with stained glass, 1 patio door and 1 stable door (one of a kind!). Our company designed, supplied and installed all timber windows and external timber doors to this property.

Breaking Down the Renovation

Casement Windows

All the casement windows are made of finger-jointed pine and are double glazed, manufactured and painted in the factory in the colour RAL 9016 from the RAL Classic Palette. The transformation of these bay windows below really made a difference to the grandeur of this building both internally and externally.

This kitchen window below was switched from aluminium to timber, and the arched detailing was the icing on top. It simply added that touch of sophistication, and the white somehow made the room look even brighter!

Front Door

All doors discussed below were produced and installed with new white frames, toughened doubled glazed glass units and multipoint locks.

This front door was designed to the client's wishes; they had sent us several reference photos of some of our previous works in order to help visualise their vision. The client opted to finish this door with a different shade internally (RAL 9016) and externally (RAL 7033) with polished brass ironmongery. The stained glass was elegantly crafted by www.specialistglass-london.co.uk and placed inside the double glazed units to reduce heat loss.

The video below features the key/thumbturn 3-point multipoint door lock, and demonstrates how the lock mechanism works. This lock in particular runs throughout the whole side of the door leaf and locks the door in 3 places, tightly securing it with bolts and hooks. Not only does it help to prevent drafts and heat loss, but prevents the door from warping in the long-term.

Patio Door

The patio doors were a great addition to the project, with thin horizontal cross bars in order to maximise sunlight and views out to the back garden.

Stable Door

Leave the best til last! This was a unique door we had never been requested to produce before, and was very satisfying to see as a finished product. Each half of the door works separately, and has their own locking mechanism.

In short, an extremely successful renovation project that we were grateful to be apart of. You can really tell what an impact a solid pair of windows and doors can have on a space, and they will last them a lifetime.
